The Best Medicine - DFFIV

Steve "Life Alert" Adams had back surgery last week and is officially on the injured reserve list for DFFIV; the recovery will have him listed as questionable at go-time. The way I see it, a weekend of alcohol induced numbness is the precise prescription for an F'd up back.

We're sending help immediately Mr. Adams...DFFIV

Chad "way-to work it through" Crowley has to attend some lame ass wedding in Rome, GA.

To Jay's credit, he has been a no-go from the start.

So, with the exception of these Ass-Clowns, everyone one else has confirmed their attendance to Drunken INSERT ACTIVITY Fest IV. At this point, if you have not sent me your check, just hold it until we hit the road. However, if you can't go or you're expecting to back out, please let me know by Monday next week (7th) so I can adjust our room count if necessary. Don’t forget, if you back-out at this point, you’re an Ass Clown.

Get Money!

Ok...DFFIV is booked for April 11th - 13th at the Hampton Inn at Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach.

It seems that the fishing in Myrtle Beach just isn't worth the cost for a trip in April, so I don't think we'll charter a boat. Your options are fishing at the pier, playing golf, drinking by the pool and/or bars at Broadway, or sleeping off your hangover from Friday night.

Sleep it off Steve

Doug & Reich will be arranging the golf outing and expect a call from one of them about golf. As of now, I have Doug, Reich, Jeff, & West interested in golf...I suppose the rest of us will be drunkards.

I'm still researching a charter trip, but so far everything just seems too expensive for a trip to catch sea trout...

The Money: Please send me a check for $110 (my address is in the e-mail) that will cover the cost of the hotel rooms. The rooms are booked as follows: (My commission for this is my own bed, if you want to change rooms I certainly don't give a shit, but I get my own bed)

Room 1: Stephen, Jeremy, Eric
Room 2: Jeff, Doug, Reich
Room 3: West, Dewey, Derek, Chris

FUBAR

Dewey recommended the Poindexter at Myrtle Beach; he and Stephen paid a visit a couple of summers ago...I don’t think we’ll be staying there...They must have been FUBAR the whole time...

The last 3 comments from From TripAdvisor:

• Nov 6, 2007: “cheap and quite nasty”
• Sep 17, 2007: “Worst Hotel Ever”
• Sep 15, 2007: “Believe what you read on Tripadvisor!”

TripAdvisor Popularity Index: # 194 of 215 hotels

FUBAR-- FU too Steve

I'm trying to nail this thing down today. Now that we are in our 30's, Hilton Head might actually be a better spot for us???? Although MB does seem to be more affordable; there is an ocean front Hampton Inn Resort that is ranked very highly on TripAdvisor and not too expensive...it is 6-miles from Broadway on the beach.

Guys...if you have any advice or preference please let me know.

We're looking at the weekend of April 11th - 13th (Fri-Sun). If you're not going or can't go on these dates please let me know. It looks like we'll have a Golf group and a Fishing Group (because of the destination options, I'm planning an inshore trip for shark, trout, redfish, etc. which will accommodate a small group for fishing; it seems that most folks want to play golf); I'm planning on fishing, so somebody else will need to head up the golf arrangements (Doug, Reich, or Jay -- Y'all need to figure this out) once we determine where we are going.

Good Times

Again, I’m trying to get this done today...

Push Back to April...

Limited progress has been made on DFFIV.

After the management shake-up, I found out that Chad can't go in March and Dewey...Well, we all know about Don-Juan Dewey.

So, "I thought I was out...but they pulled me back in..."

Tried to find the Godfather clip...but a drunken J.B. (Godfather) will have to do...

We're pushing this thing back to a weekend in April, and its shaping up to be just a Friday-Sunday trip also.

Stay Tuned.

Hasta Luego!

Date Change & Management Shakeup

Chad pointed out that the original date we picked out is Easter weekend, so we're moving things up to the weekend before, which is the 13th - 16th. Also, it seems as though Tampa - Clearwater is going to be the spot this year. I've turned site scouting over to Chad, who has a co-worker that lives in Tampa and should be able to point us in the right direction. The 13th - 16th might be too early, but, fuck-it!!!

I've made the decision that Dewey and Chad are going to be Co-Chairman this year, because I just want to be one of y'all lazy fuckers that just sends a check to somebody and shows up! I'll still run communications on this site, but I'm turning it over to Chad & Dewey at this point...Just tell me where to send my check!!!

After last year’s performance, Chad earns the Co- Chair Spot

I know what you're thinking..But Yes...He is capable

Alright, let's make this thing happen Chad & Dewey...

DFF IV – Location, Location, Location…

The Christmas season is over, so let the DFF Season begin…

In The Beginning…DFF1

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and Santa brought everything on your list. Now it’s time for a new, more important list; I’m talking, of course, about your DFFIV location list. At right, Chad Karaoke's his DFFIV Locations

Back in August there seem to be some agreement about a trip to Tampa, and I’m certainly ok with that; however, other DFF members have expressed an interest in Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head, Biloxi, etc. Let me make one thing clear, I DON’T CARE WHERE WE GO…I JUST WANT TO GO. Also, a contingent of the group has expressed an interest in going somewhere that they can play golf rather than fish; so, we will likely have one group who plays golf and one who goes fishing (or we could try and arrange for both…I just plan to fish)

Ok, in the comments section of this page, you are required to make a suggestion about a possible location (if it makes no difference, just say so) and if you would prefer golf or fishing or both. Dewey and I will try and pull this all together, but please give us some feedback about what y’all want to do…Both Dewey and I plan to fish, and neither one of us care that much about our location.

This is why I go fishing…

Couple of points to remember about possible location recommendations:

• Needs to be driving distance (prefer less than 7-hours)
• Affordable
• Golf & Ocean
• Warm Climate (keep in mind the trip will be in late March)
• Some semblance of a night life
• Feel free to suggest more than one location

The planning mode was a little more organized last year simply because of the scale of that trip. So, let’s come up with something and put this one on the books for DFFIV; you must make your comments by next Friday (4th). As of right now we will be looking at the weekend of March 20th – 23rd (Thurs – Sun).

Drunken JayFest & DFFIV

I leave tomorrow for a week of leisure at the beach to prepare myself for the Drunken JayFest (DJF). Big thanks to Jay for tying the knot and giving us all an "interim" reason to raise hell again. It's been quite sometime since I've kicked at PCB, I can't wait.

That's Right...PCB Bitch! Old School...

For those of you that missed it, we held a pre-DJF get together in the ATL last Saturday...Good Times. The big news is that a DFFIV quorum was present, and the consensus (for now anyway) was that DFFIV should be held in the fine city of Tampa. Pros: Driving Distance, South of Destin/PCB, and apparently a pretty happening nightlife. Cons: None; seriously, it's the DFF bitchces, we could go to the South Pole and it would still kick ass.

Stephen in his thinking cap debating DFFIV locations

All right...I've got to go finish packing. You ladies have a good week at work; I'll be on the beach. See y'all on the 11th.

DFF III in the Books...

I got the Flu & Bronchitis after DFF III; I suppose that is what three solid days of mass alcohol consumption can do to your immune system. I had a hell of a time and hope y’all did to. Time to start thinking about DFF IV…we’ll probably scale it back some next year but y’all give it some thought…

Some highlights from the trip…you have to love Chad’s drunk ass dancing at Fat Tuesday’s and the commentary from me and West.

DFF III is in The Air…

The DFF III Draft:

Today at the office I held the official DFF III fishing team draft (pull names out of a cup) to split up our boats. Although everyone in my office is now convinced that I’m insane; we have Teams.

Offical DFF III Draft Cup

The Draft Board

The Results:

Team 1:
West (1st Round Pick!)
Brian
Chad
Jay
Derek
Dewey

Team 2
Chris
Jeremy
Jeff
Eric
Stephen
Doug

unfortunately for West, 1st round draft picks of the DFF do not receive signing bonuses

HOTEL INFO:

I don’t recall posting any info on the hotel; the research that Dewey & I did seemed to indicate that this was one of the best places to stay for location. We shouldn’t have to worry about taxies, except for getting to/from the airport and when we go to the dock for our fishing trip. Here is the web-site description:

The Crowne Plaza Hotel La Concha Key West, is a unique and historic hotel located directly on Duval Street within walking distance of all major attractions, shopping, entertainment, and nightlife.

Built in 1926, home to luminaries like Hemingway, Truman, Tennessee Williams (when he wrote a Streetcar Named Desire,) La Concha Hotel offers the most spectacular 360 degree view, with nightly Sunset Celebration and all of Key West from the 7th Floor deck and lounge at the top of the hotel.

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner served daily in Jacks Seafood Shack. Outdoorswimming pool and pool bar on the second floor level. Fitness Room 4th floor, free weights and cardio equipment.

CORNER PANTRY, off the lobby, snacks, alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, sundries, ice cream, tee shirts, hats... etc. A Starbuck's Coffee Shop is located on the Lobby level.

Beware The Ides of March…

For in the year 2007 it will begin DFF-III…

Ides of March, 44 BC

Ides of March, 2007 AD

Not unlike the assassination of Julius Caesar, The Ides of March 2007, AD will bring about the assassination of multiple alcoholic beverages and various sea living creatures from the deep (with some luck). Hope all y’all are ready…

Only 14-days…

Jeff Patterson is a confirmed participant this year. He will be flying to Miami and making the drive to Key West on Thursday. Jeff – If you beat us there, you best be drunk when we arrive because I’ve got a feeling we will all be hammered from the plane ride.

I continue to hear rumors that Reiiiiiiiiiiaaaaaaachhhhhh will be flying down on Friday or Sat. to hang out. Speaking of Saturday, that will be the 17th which is St. Paddy’s day and Chris reports some kind of major Pub Crawl on Duval St. will be happening that day.

All for now ladies…go buy something from the store.

The Boats are Booked...

One step closer. The boats were booked this week and we will be fishing on Friday March 16th from 12:30 - 6:30. You can check out our charter company here: Lind D Charters.

We had to book two boats this year because the Coast Guard limits each boat to 6-fishermen per vessel in the Keys. So, we officially have a tournament. Anyone have suggestions on how to divide up teams???

I know everyone just keeps on paying for this thing like some shit on lay-away at Service Merchandise; but only one more payment bitchces and this thing is done. Please send West a check for $150; this covers the fishing trip and the tips. That it, I ain't asking fo no-mo money...It's fucking on; just show up at the damn airport on March 15th, I'll be there already sipping a Red Bull & Vodka at whatever piece of shit bar is close to our gate.

You can find West's address in the e-mail I sent. Also, somebody (Doug, Dewey, or Stephen) please pass this info along to Jeff P; and if anybody has his e-mail address please send it to me.
