DFF IV – Location, Location, Location…

The Christmas season is over, so let the DFF Season begin…

In The Beginning…DFF1

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and Santa brought everything on your list. Now it’s time for a new, more important list; I’m talking, of course, about your DFFIV location list. At right, Chad Karaoke's his DFFIV Locations

Back in August there seem to be some agreement about a trip to Tampa, and I’m certainly ok with that; however, other DFF members have expressed an interest in Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head, Biloxi, etc. Let me make one thing clear, I DON’T CARE WHERE WE GO…I JUST WANT TO GO. Also, a contingent of the group has expressed an interest in going somewhere that they can play golf rather than fish; so, we will likely have one group who plays golf and one who goes fishing (or we could try and arrange for both…I just plan to fish)

Ok, in the comments section of this page, you are required to make a suggestion about a possible location (if it makes no difference, just say so) and if you would prefer golf or fishing or both. Dewey and I will try and pull this all together, but please give us some feedback about what y’all want to do…Both Dewey and I plan to fish, and neither one of us care that much about our location.

This is why I go fishing…

Couple of points to remember about possible location recommendations:

• Needs to be driving distance (prefer less than 7-hours)
• Affordable
• Golf & Ocean
• Warm Climate (keep in mind the trip will be in late March)
• Some semblance of a night life
• Feel free to suggest more than one location

The planning mode was a little more organized last year simply because of the scale of that trip. So, let’s come up with something and put this one on the books for DFFIV; you must make your comments by next Friday (4th). As of right now we will be looking at the weekend of March 20th – 23rd (Thurs – Sun).

Drunken JayFest & DFFIV

I leave tomorrow for a week of leisure at the beach to prepare myself for the Drunken JayFest (DJF). Big thanks to Jay for tying the knot and giving us all an "interim" reason to raise hell again. It's been quite sometime since I've kicked at PCB, I can't wait.

That's Right...PCB Bitch! Old School...

For those of you that missed it, we held a pre-DJF get together in the ATL last Saturday...Good Times. The big news is that a DFFIV quorum was present, and the consensus (for now anyway) was that DFFIV should be held in the fine city of Tampa. Pros: Driving Distance, South of Destin/PCB, and apparently a pretty happening nightlife. Cons: None; seriously, it's the DFF bitchces, we could go to the South Pole and it would still kick ass.

Stephen in his thinking cap debating DFFIV locations

All right...I've got to go finish packing. You ladies have a good week at work; I'll be on the beach. See y'all on the 11th.

DFF III in the Books...

I got the Flu & Bronchitis after DFF III; I suppose that is what three solid days of mass alcohol consumption can do to your immune system. I had a hell of a time and hope y’all did to. Time to start thinking about DFF IV…we’ll probably scale it back some next year but y’all give it some thought…

Some highlights from the trip…you have to love Chad’s drunk ass dancing at Fat Tuesday’s and the commentary from me and West.

DFF III is in The Air…

The DFF III Draft:

Today at the office I held the official DFF III fishing team draft (pull names out of a cup) to split up our boats. Although everyone in my office is now convinced that I’m insane; we have Teams.

Offical DFF III Draft Cup

The Draft Board

The Results:

Team 1:
West (1st Round Pick!)
Brian
Chad
Jay
Derek
Dewey

Team 2
Chris
Jeremy
Jeff
Eric
Stephen
Doug

unfortunately for West, 1st round draft picks of the DFF do not receive signing bonuses

HOTEL INFO:

I don’t recall posting any info on the hotel; the research that Dewey & I did seemed to indicate that this was one of the best places to stay for location. We shouldn’t have to worry about taxies, except for getting to/from the airport and when we go to the dock for our fishing trip. Here is the web-site description:

The Crowne Plaza Hotel La Concha Key West, is a unique and historic hotel located directly on Duval Street within walking distance of all major attractions, shopping, entertainment, and nightlife.

Built in 1926, home to luminaries like Hemingway, Truman, Tennessee Williams (when he wrote a Streetcar Named Desire,) La Concha Hotel offers the most spectacular 360 degree view, with nightly Sunset Celebration and all of Key West from the 7th Floor deck and lounge at the top of the hotel.

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner served daily in Jacks Seafood Shack. Outdoorswimming pool and pool bar on the second floor level. Fitness Room 4th floor, free weights and cardio equipment.

CORNER PANTRY, off the lobby, snacks, alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, sundries, ice cream, tee shirts, hats... etc. A Starbuck's Coffee Shop is located on the Lobby level.

Beware The Ides of March…

For in the year 2007 it will begin DFF-III…

Ides of March, 44 BC

Ides of March, 2007 AD

Not unlike the assassination of Julius Caesar, The Ides of March 2007, AD will bring about the assassination of multiple alcoholic beverages and various sea living creatures from the deep (with some luck). Hope all y’all are ready…

Only 14-days…

Jeff Patterson is a confirmed participant this year. He will be flying to Miami and making the drive to Key West on Thursday. Jeff – If you beat us there, you best be drunk when we arrive because I’ve got a feeling we will all be hammered from the plane ride.

I continue to hear rumors that Reiiiiiiiiiiaaaaaaachhhhhh will be flying down on Friday or Sat. to hang out. Speaking of Saturday, that will be the 17th which is St. Paddy’s day and Chris reports some kind of major Pub Crawl on Duval St. will be happening that day.

All for now ladies…go buy something from the store.

The Boats are Booked...

One step closer. The boats were booked this week and we will be fishing on Friday March 16th from 12:30 - 6:30. You can check out our charter company here: Lind D Charters.

We had to book two boats this year because the Coast Guard limits each boat to 6-fishermen per vessel in the Keys. So, we officially have a tournament. Anyone have suggestions on how to divide up teams???

I know everyone just keeps on paying for this thing like some shit on lay-away at Service Merchandise; but only one more payment bitchces and this thing is done. Please send West a check for $150; this covers the fishing trip and the tips. That it, I ain't asking fo no-mo money...It's fucking on; just show up at the damn airport on March 15th, I'll be there already sipping a Red Bull & Vodka at whatever piece of shit bar is close to our gate.

You can find West's address in the e-mail I sent. Also, somebody (Doug, Dewey, or Stephen) please pass this info along to Jeff P; and if anybody has his e-mail address please send it to me.

Grand Opening of the DFF Store...

What is the point of having a kick-ass logo if you can’t sport it on something??? Thanks to Chad’s handy work, that question has been answered. I am proud to present to you the Drunken Fishfest Store… I'll also keep a link under the links section on the right side of the page.

A couple of my favorite items include the DFFIII commemorative T-shirt as seen here:

T-Shirt Front

T-Shirt Back

...and this sticker:

Personally, I’ll be buying the commemorative T-shirt. Y’all go get some DFF shit…

As a side note; the only profiteer from this stuff is Cafepress.

Switching gears…It is with great regret that I inform you that Reeeeeeiiicchhhh has decided to back out on DFFIII. However, reports continue to circulate that Jeff Patterson will fill the large void left by Reeeiiiiiiiccccccchhhhhhh; I’ll keep ya’ll posted and if anyone knows anything more please post a comment.

I plan to book the boats tomorrow.

The Moment You Have All Been Waiting For…

"Drunken Fishfest III"

That’s right, it’s time. Time for the first official “DFF III” post. I know all of you have been anxiously waiting on this e-mail to hit your inbox, and here it is bitches…kind of like a new present placed under the tree when you were 8-years old. This gift of fishing & drunkenness will be unwrapped with vengeance on March 15th.

Thanks to Chad’s handy work we now have a kick-ass logo at the top of the screen. You have to love the clip of Reich’s drunk ass handing me his wallet; solid.

As predicted in March’06, we are certainly taking it to the “next level” this year. The hotel rooms are already paid for, the flights were booked on Monday, and the charter boats will be selected in the next two weeks. Additionally, it is with great excitement that we welcome Jay-Bird, Hollywood Chaz, and Skipper “D” back to the DFF Family after last years absence.

Some Details:
Although a certain contingent of you guys probably would have preferred to travel with ’85 Coachman, LLC…

…the rest of us are very thankful that Delta goes direct to Key West. We were able to secure a reasonable deal through Delta Group Sales for roundtrip airfare and all junk fees for $430 round trip (if we had to book today it would cost $1,254); we had until Jan.15th to make this purchase and up until that point it was still cheaper than a Miami/Ft. Lauderdale –Bus Trip to Key West; and that wasn’t even factoring in the additional costs of time and hassle. So, 11 of us are booked on Delta – ASA roundtrip Atlanta (Atl) to Key West (eyw) with the following itinerary:

Departure: Delta-ASA 4590 March, 15th 2:50pm – Arrival in Key West @ 4:38pm

Return: Delta-ASA 4557 March, 18th 5:10pm – Arrival in ATL @ 7:15pm

Reeeeeeiiiiiich, who will be flying non-revenue, will officially be known as the 12th man of the DFF. The over / under on what time he arrives in Key West has been set at 7:45pm on the 15th; place your bets now…

The 12th Man...Reeeiachhh Biiiiaaattchhh!!!

Incase any of you give a shit, we will be flying on a CRJ-700 similar to the one below:

The following need to mail a check for $430.00 to Eric:

West
Derek
Chad
Stephen

The rest of you owe Dewey $430.00:

Jay
Brian
Chris
Jeremy
Doug

If you need Eric's or Dewey's address please call or e-mail. I wasn’t to excited about placing our home addresses on here considering some of the random visitors that show up on this site…

I’ll post more info next week on our fishing charters and hotel accommodations. Let the countdown begin…Only 55-days before go-time…
